As part of rebuilding the Christchurch City’s water network SCIRT has installed a new pump station and fresh water holding tank to improve the water supply to the Hornby area.
BBR Contech were engaged by main contractor Downer to provide post-tensioning services for horizontal tendons in the new tank walls.
The tank involved a 31 metre diameter circular structure with 11 rings of tendons x 7 № 12.7mm strands stressed through four pilasters. BBR Contech supplied BBR CMI (internal) 705 anchorages, antiburst spirals and 54mm ID Drossbach duct to the precaster then installed, stressed and grouted tendons once panels were erected.
